The coin is dedicated to the 25 years of Breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer awareness is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment.
The pink ribbon is the most prominent symbol of breast cancer awareness, and in many countries the month of October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The origin of this symbol comes in 1992, linked to Alexandra Penney and Evelyn Lauder. Alexandra was the editor of a women's magazine, working on the annual Breast Cancer Awareness. Evelyn Lauder was Vice President of Estée Lauder and had been invited to attend this party as guest editor. Both thought to make ties and that these were distributed by the cosmetic companies to get to promote the prevention of breast cancer.
