Slovakia 2 Euro 2017 "Universitas Istropolitana – 550 years since the start of teaching" UNC

The coin is dedicated to 550th anniversarry of the establishment of Academia Istropolitana. The Universitas Istropolitana in Bratislava was arguably the third university to be found in the Kingdom of Hungary and the first university to be founded in the territory of present-day Slovakia. Despite its brief existence (1465–1491), it features prominently in Slovak historiography.The word "Istropolitana" is taken from the ancient Greek name for Bratislava, Istropolis, which means "Danube City".The design depicts a teacher and two students sitting together. The historical building of the University of Bratislava is shown in the background. At the top left corner, enclosed in a small medallion is the founder of the University, Matthias Corvinus. The inscription"UNIVERZITA 1467 Istropolitana" is shaped as an arch and below the inscription SLOVENSKO 2017 ". The symbol of the Mint of Kremnica "MK "(Mincovňa Kremnica) and the initials MP of the designer complete the motif,
