Spain started the commemorative coin series Patrimonio de la Humanidad de la UNESCO (UNESCO World Heritage) in 2010, commemorating all of Spain's UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Segovia is a city in the autonomous region of Castile and León, Spain and capital of Segovia Province. In 1985 the old city of Segovia and its Aqueduct were declared World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The Aqueduct, located in Plaza del Azoguejo, is the defining historical feature of the city, dating from the late 1st or early 2nd century CE.
The coin depicts the aqueduct of Segovia. Above, in a circular, the word "ESPAÑA", the year of issue "2016"; on the right the mint mark, the "M" crowned . On the outer edge 12 five-pointed stars representing the European Union.
